Training the Next Generation of Men’s Health Specialists at MHC

Advancing men’s health care isn’t only about providing excellent care today. It’s also about building knowledge, sharing expertise, and preparing the next generation of specialists to care for the patients of tomorrow.

At Men’s Health Clinic Manitoba, education and professional development are an important part of that work. Through our Andrology Fellowship offered in partnership with the University of Manitoba, Fellows have the opportunity to develop specialized knowledge and experience in men’s health while learning alongside experienced clinicians, researchers, and educators.

Why Specialized Men’s Health Training Matters

Men’s health encompasses a wide range of conditions, from male infertility and sexual dysfunction to testosterone deficiency, chronic orchalgia, BPH, and other urologic concerns.

Specialized training allows for a deeper understanding of these areas and the ways they can intersect. The one-year Andrology Fellowship provides advanced clinical and surgical training across a broad range of men’s health and andrology care.

Learning Through Clinical Experience and Research

Fellows work alongside our experienced MD’s and gain exposure to the assessment and treatment of a wide range of men’s health concerns.

Research is another important part of the fellowship. Fellows have opportunities to participate in research projects and engage with the clinic’s broader research program.

Clinical experience and research together help develop the skills to evaluate evidence, ask better questions, and apply new knowledge to patient care.

The Role of Mentorship and Collaboration

Specialized training doesn’t happen in isolation.

Through clinical supervision, academic rounds, conferences, journal clubs, and teaching opportunities, Fellows learn from experienced physicians while also contributing to the education of others.

These experiences reinforce the importance of collaboration and knowledge sharing in advancing men’s health.

Connecting Education to Patient Care

Research, education, and clinical care are closely connected.

Research helps expand our understanding of men’s health. Education helps physicians interpret and share that knowledge. Clinical experience provides an opportunity to consider how that knowledge applies to individual patients.

At MHC, supporting the next generation of specialists is part of a broader commitment to professional leadership and the continued advancement of men’s health care in Manitoba and beyond.
